Tranquil Harmony Retreat

Theme:

Zen Garden

About the Event

Zen gardens emphasize tranquility and minimalism. They incorporate elements like carefully raked gravel, rocks, water features, and strategically placed plants to create a serene and meditative atmosphere.

What to see

  • The ground of a Zen garden is often covered with raked gravel or sand that is meticulously raked into intricate patterns, resembling ripples in water or flowing waves. These patterns are not just decorative but also have symbolic meanings, representing the fluidity and impermanence of life.

  • Large rocks and boulders are strategically placed throughout the garden. These rocks are often chosen for their shape, size, and color to create a harmonious and balanced composition. They represent mountains or islands and are thought to symbolize stability and endurance.

  • Zen gardens often feature simple wooden bridges or pathways made of stepping stones. These pathways encourage visitors to slow down, step mindfully, and engage with the garden on a deeper level.

  • Some Zen gardens include water features like small ponds or streams. These features can add an additional layer of tranquility and reflectiveness to the space.

  • Zen gardens are deeply rooted in Zen Buddhist philosophy, emphasizing concepts like mindfulness, simplicity, and the impermanence of existence. The garden's design elements are chosen to evoke a sense of meditation, stillness, and connection with nature.
